Our editors do two jobs at once: tighten the prose line by line, and strengthen the structure underneath it. They can tell you why a chapter loses a reader halfway through, because they have fixed that exact problem on books that went on to sell well. That instinct is not something you can pick up quickly — it comes from years of reading manuscripts closely, and it is what you are hiring when you work with this team.
Substantial Editing - reshaping how the book is built
Editing – rewriting and reworking passages
Clean Copy – grammar, spelling and punctuation
Manuscript Layout – clean, consistent presentation
Editorial Reports – closing the gaps in the story
Publishing – full end-to-end release support
Some manuscripts need a full structural edit. Others need nothing more than a final proofread before release. We offer the whole range — proofreading, full book editing, and options priced for authors working to a budget — so you pay for the work your draft genuinely requires. Behind all of it sits a team of editors, writers and designers who would rather do fewer books well than many books quickly.
A sentence-level pass over the whole manuscript. Your editor works through the text fixing grammar, usage and consistency, then goes back over it again — because the second pass always catches what the first one missed.
Arguably where the real gains are. This pass deals with pacing, flow and structure — which chapters drag, where the tension slackens, and what has to change for a reader to keep turning pages.
The last line of defence: formatting slips, stray typos, grammar, and any plot detail that no longer lines up. It doubles as a useful diagnostic if you are unsure whether the book needs a deeper edit first.
Whether you have booked a full edit, a proofread or something in between, the work moves through the same four stages — carefully done, and returned to you on time.

The Work
Once the order is in, someone talks it through with you properly. A proofread and a full
structural edit are very different jobs, and it is worth ten minutes to make sure you are
buying the right one.
Mapping
The Project
Before the editing starts we lay out the plan — scope, sequence and dates — and send it
to you. Projects rarely go wrong at the editing stage; they go wrong when nobody agreed
what was being edited.
Your Feedback Partway through you see the work in progress and tell us how it reads to you. Raising a disagreement here is easy and cheap; raising it after delivery is neither.
Final Delivery Everything produced for your book is handed over at the end — every file, fully owned by you, prepared for the format and release you told us you were aiming at.
Late night, early morning, weekend — there is always someone on our team ready to pick up.
The nicest part of this job is the message that arrives after delivery. Here is a handful of them, from writers who let our team carry their manuscript over the line.
I came to MC Clurg Publishers with half a draft and low expectations. What came back read better than anything I could have written alone. Genuinely impressed by this team.
A few weeks into working with MC Clurg Publishers I stopped worrying entirely. Someone was always reachable, and not once did I have to chase an update.
Writing, editing, cover, listings — MC Clurg Publishers handled all of it while I got on with my actual job. Having one team own the whole thing made an enormous difference.
I priced this out with four other companies before choosing MC Clurg Publishers, and nobody came close on value. The work was careful, the process was calm, and the quote held.
Easy people to work with, start to finish. The team at MC Clurg Publishers stayed with my project right through launch instead of disappearing once the manuscript was signed off.
